How the network is built
Your access fiber is dedicated to your premises. It is not shared with a neighbour and nothing is split between homes. The capacity beyond your access fiber — our upstream and the wider internet — is shared, as it is on every network.
The speed on your plan is the capacity of your connection. What you actually measure depends on the far end you are talking to, on that shared upstream capacity, and on your own equipment, cabling and software. We do not publish a typical or guaranteed throughput figure, and this document does not create one.
What we do not do to your traffic
There is no data cap, no usage allowance and no overage charge on residential or Business Fiber service. We do not throttle a connection for reaching a volume of data.
We do not use carrier-grade NAT, and we do not routinely block inbound or outbound ports. Every subscriber receives a stable IPv6 /48 through DHCPv6 prefix delegation.
We do not throttle, prioritise or degrade traffic on the basis of the application you are using, the site you are visiting or who provides it. Where capacity needs managing, we manage it by provisioning capacity. If we ever adopted a practice that treated some traffic differently from other traffic, we would describe it here before applying it.
Running servers and accepting connections
Run servers, use a VPN, host a home lab and accept inbound connections. None of that requires a Business account, and none of it is prohibited on residential service.
Your own router's firewall still decides what is reachable from outside your network. A static public IPv4 address, where your plan includes one, makes a service easier to reach — it is not on its own a security measure.
Protecting the network
We may take proportionate action to protect the network, our other customers or a third party from an immediate technical threat — an active attack, a compromised device flooding traffic, or equipment that is damaging the network it is attached to. Action of that kind is limited to what the situation needs and lasts no longer than the situation does.
Where it is practical to tell you first, we do. Where it is not, we tell you as soon as we can and explain what happened. Nothing in this paragraph is a general permission to shape traffic, and it is not used to manage congestion.
We comply with lawful process. A demand from a government body is answered as the law requires, and no further.
What we ask of you
Use the service lawfully. Do not use it to attack other networks, to send unsolicited bulk email, to distribute malware, or to gain access to systems you are not entitled to use.
Keep your own equipment in reasonable order. A compromised device on your network affects other people, and we may ask you to deal with one.
If you resell or share the connection beyond your own household or premises, tell us. That is a different arrangement, and it may need a different product rather than a refusal.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a way that affects what you may do or how your traffic is handled, we publish the change here with a new effective date and tell existing customers before it applies.
